Description

Ash waits above the street like a damaged gargoyle, molten stone fused with flesh and a claw flexing while he watches his targets. Gunta's arrival irritates him almost as much as the lieutenant's favourite taunt: Shonen still has not given his captain a Holy Item.

He lets Gunta have his violent entrance while he studies the situation from above. When MI6 arrives, Ash withdraws with the fight unfinished. That ability to wait is part of the threat. His altered body makes him conspicuous, but beneath the heat and scar tissue is an officer weighing when to strike, when to leave and how to claim the power he believes he deserves.

Personality & Character

This transformation—the result of a catastrophic exposure to unstable Holy Item radiation during a botched mission early in his career—left him forever changed, forever marked as less than whole. Despite his condition, or perhaps because of it, Captain Ash has clawed his way to a position of minor authority within The Order, though he remains trapped in the lower officer ranks—a fact that gnaws at him with every passing day. His ambition burns as hot as the volcanic energies coursing through his transformed flesh.

Background

He believes—no, he knows—that a Holy Item would complete him, would grant him the power to transcend his current limitations and claim the respect he deserves. His resentment toward Shonen Kartia festers like an infected wound. The Singularity, born with a Holy Item, immortal and untouchable, has everything Ash desires but seems indifferent to the hunger that consumes lesser men.

Relationships

Ash has heard the whispers, confirmed through careful investigation and eavesdropping on senior officers: The Order maintains a vault of unclaimed Holy Items, artefacts too dangerous to distribute freely, waiting for wielders deemed worthy by Shonen himself. The knowledge that such power lies mere floors away, locked behind wards and protocols, while he remains incomplete and overlooked, has become an obsession. In meetings, he maintains a facade of loyalty and professionalism, his human eye reflecting dutiful attention while his burning ash eye betrays the calculations running beneath.

Role in the story

He volunteers for dangerous assignments, hoping to prove his worth, to demonstrate that he deserves to be entrusted with greater power. Yet each mission that ends in success only reinforces his position as a useful tool rather than elevating him to the inner circle.
