Holy Item Radiation

Summary

Holy Item radiation is the celestial energy that lingers after the fallen star's arrival, changing bodies and awakening powers beyond the relics' chosen wielders. Drinking a concentrated dose can force a transformation, but the Legion knows how often that gamble ends badly.

Description

Holy Item radiation is the celestial disaster’s unfinished work. It remains in the atmosphere, helps give rise to living clouds and leaves its mark on people whose powers were never granted through a personal relic. London lives among its consequences.

Some try to skip uncertainty by drinking a concentrated dose. The Legion sees what that choice does to Truth: convulsions, terror, then a burst of light he can suddenly command. Surviving makes him remarkable. The friends who remember those who did not survive are the reason the gamble never feels safe.

Background

Holy Item Radiation is an ethereal and potent force that defies conventional scientific understanding, operating on a mystical level that interfaces with the essence of life and matter. Born from the celestial fragments of the shattered star during the Holy Tragedy, this radiation has permanently infused Earth's atmosphere, fundamentally altering the nature of reality. Unlike typical electromagnetic emissions, Holy Item Radiation awakens latent abilities in certain individuals, granting powers that echo the divine nature of the Holy Items themselves—from enhanced physical capabilities and elemental manipulation to more esoteric abilities. The radiation's effects are unpredictable and transformative, creating beings whose abilities can rival those of Holy Item wielders or corpses. Some desperate souls have attempted to harness this power by condensing the radiation into a liquid form, though such attempts almost invariably result in death. Holy Item Radiation also manifests as devastating atmospheric phenomena: radiation storms.

Abilities

• Power Awakening (Grants supernatural abilities to affected individuals)
• Atmospheric Manifestation (Creates devastating radiation storms)
• Biological Mutation (Transforms creatures and flora)
• Reality Warping (Alters matter and life at fundamental level)
