Titan Seedlings

Summary

Titan Seedlings are small beings of soil, stone and growing things that tend the Onari groves. Their emerald eyes shine at night as they coax damaged plants back to life, and Onari children learn to care for these curious little neighbours.

Description

A Titan Seedling looks like a small patch of the grove has got up to explore: soil and stone beneath moss, flowering buds and gently luminous eyes. It may pause to tend a young tree, humming as it works, or coax life back into damaged vegetation with a touch.

The Onari teach children to care for them and protect them from removal or exploitation. Their gift is useful, but that is not permission to take one home. These curious little caretakers belong to the living places they help maintain.

Background

Nestled in the heart of the Onari's sacred groves, Titan Seedlings represent the future of the forest's guardianship. These small, curious creatures are the embodiment of new life and continued protection for the Onari's most hallowed spaces.

Appearance

Their bodies are a remarkable composite of soil, stone, and living plant matter, with soft, pliable bark and delicate leafy branches covered in moss and flowering buds. Each Seedling is unique, their features and markings hinting at the Guardian they will one day become. The most striking feature is their eyes—formed from emerald-like crystals that emit gentle luminance, especially at night. These eyes pulse with a soft, rhythmic glow, a visual echo of the life force flowing through the grove and a reflection of the land's health and vitality. Believed to be a divine gift from Yuvan, the God of Nature, Titan Seedlings first emerged from the sacred soils surrounding the Lifetree after the Great Bloom—an event where the Lifetree's magic overflowed into the surrounding land.

Behaviour

They are not passive inhabitants but active participants in the forest's complex ecosystem, tending to the needs of plants and creatures with innate, almost instinctual understanding. As they grow and mature, they watch and learn from the Grove Guardians, absorbing ancient wisdom and sacred duties through gradual rituals and ceremonies. As part of coming-of-age rites, Onari children are given the responsibility to care for a Seedling, teaching respect and connection to the natural world. The Onari have strict laws protecting these beings—removing Seedlings from their natural environment or exploiting their abilities for personal gain is forbidden.
