Summary

The Onari are grey-skinned shapeshifters whose three animal forms honour Yuvan and their reverence for life. Beneath Yaluma's ancient Lifetree, sacred dances turn that belief into communal practice; in combat, the same transformations become a means of survival.

Description

An Onari's three forms are more than a useful escape route or a weapon. Their traditions understand shapeshifting as Yuvan's gift: a way to know other living creatures from within. In Yaluma, beneath the ancient Lifetree, private transformations and communal dances turn that belief into something the whole village can practise.

Their pointed ears and grey skin are recognisable; the rhythm of their combat is just as distinctive. Yet a culture built around preservation also lives with the intimidating power of the Onari Titans and the royal bloodlines able to take that form. Yukon carries a different surprise into London: where his people's gifts usually have three shapes, his seem to have no such limit.
