The Streamliner

Summary

The Streamliner is London's enchanted train, using spatial magic to pass straight through buildings along its route. Inside, plush seats and noise-cancelling charms make the impossible feel ordinary enough for Goaden to listen to music with Kai asleep on his shoulder.

Description

Outside the window, a building is coming straight towards the carriage. The Streamliner passes through it, edges blurring into ghostly afterimages before the train becomes solid again. Spatial magic, directed through its control matrix, has made obstacles someone else’s problem.

Inside, arcane symbols glow around plush seats and noise-cancelling charms soften the city. Goaden listens to music with a small dragon asleep on his shoulder. The wonder of London’s transport is how quickly its passengers can become bored with the impossible.
