Whisper

Summary

Whisper is an MI6 agent whose low power scores, black face bandages and talent for avoiding work make him easy to underestimate. His unnerving guardian Igyni suggests a different story, but keeping everyone's expectations low seems to suit him perfectly.

Description

Whisper occupies MI6's recreation area as if strenuous effort were a rumour. A beanie and black bandages leave only one eye visible. Cliff calls him the laziest soldier he has ever seen; a new mission is an opportunity for Whisper to suggest sitting this one out.

Then there is Igyni, his guardian: a single eye surrounded by flaming wings, distinctly more alarming than its owner's exam results. The mismatch is worth remembering. Whisper notices more than his slouch suggests, and is remarkably invested in keeping everybody's expectations exactly where they are.
