Infinity's Quill

Concept

Summary

Infinity's Quill is a vast library carved into the northern mountains, collecting books and artefacts from across worlds. Its records can surround visitors with an ancient battle, making research feel immediate and offering answers that may be harder to face than expected.

Description

Infinity’s Quill rises from the northern mountains in obsidian and silver, with carved scholars standing beside doors marked by an astrological chart. Beyond them lie cold archives, the smell of old bindings and artefacts gathered from different worlds.

A device labelled Historical Battles can fill the room with the fight between Shonen and Jedia. For Goaden, it is a chance to study impossible swordsmanship. For Ashai, something within the same recording turns research into a personal crisis. Here, finding an answer can be more dangerous than getting lost among the shelves.

Background

Infinity's Quill, legendary repository of knowledge, a library carved into the very bones of the earth. Its facade—a masterwork of obsidian and silver—reflects arcane wisdom contained within its depths.

What it is

The entrance is flanked by towering monoliths depicting hooded scholars immortalised in stone, their illuminated tomes and scrolls offering silent welcome to seekers of knowledge. The origins of Infinity's Quill are shrouded in mystery, with some claiming it predates recorded history. Legends speak of its founding by a conclave of the world's most powerful mages, who sought to preserve all knowledge against the ravages of time and conflict.

Architecture

The library houses several remarkable chambers: The Endless Stacks—bookshelves stretching into infinity, containing tomes from every corner of the known world; The Whispering Gallery—a circular room where whispers of long-dead scholars still share secrets with those worthy to listen; The Cryptex Vault—a chamber of rotating pillars inscribed with ever-changing runes, guarding the most dangerous and powerful magical texts; and The Astral Observatory—a domed ceiling reflecting the night sky of any world or time, enabling unparalleled astrological study. Its proximity to Duskkin territory has played a crucial role in shaping the evolution of Duskkin society and abilities over the years. Whispers circulate that the library is sentient, its corridors shifting to reveal or conceal information as it deems fit.

What it contains

The most persistent rumour claims that within its deepest chambers lies a book capable of rewriting reality.
